Over the years I have participated in, and provided support for a number of professional and community organizations. Some have proven to be professionally beneficial to me and (ultimately) my clients; others have provided me with opportunities to serve and contribute. Life is busy and we can’t do everything. In some cases I have left good organizations and moved on to others where I felt I could more effectively receive and contribute. Some of these organizations follow…
Professional Organizations and Qualifications:
Electronics Engineering Technologist - For those not familiar with this qualification, it is an academic qualification comparable to an associate degree common in the United States and elsewhere.
Industrial Instrument Mechanic Journeyman (Saskatchewan) - This is a trade certification in the instrumentation field.
Electronic Technician Journeyman (Alberta) - This is a trade certification in the field of electronic repair.
Saskatchewan Applied Science Technologists and Technicians – In 2011 I received the Quarter Century Award for 25 years of continuous membership as an Applied Science Technologist
Society for Technical Communication - I was a member and participant in the STC for several years. In 2011 I allowed my membership to lapse in order to participate in other technical writing-related organizations.
Various online communities and discussion groups - Association of Technical Communicators, The Content Wrangler, Linked In technical writer discussion groups
Community Organizations:
Acoustic Neuroma Association of Canada (ANAC) - Served as a director on the national board of this support organization
Inscribe Christian Writers’ Fellowship (ICWF) - Served as a director on the national board of this writers’ organization
Rotary Club of Saskatoon North - Member and director on the club board
